Te invitamos a participar en la primera edición del festival de cine Horror en las Montañas en la ciudad de Xalapa, la cual tendrá lugar del 16 al 19 de noviembre de 2023.
Te pedimos leer con atención y en su totalidad esta convocatoria antes de inscribir tus trabajos. Con gusto contestaremos tus dudas y ampliaremos la información NO INCLUIDA, en el correo: horrorenlasmontanas@gmail.com
1- BASES DE PARTICIPACIÓN
1.1 No hay límite de edad o nacionalidad para participar.
1.2 Cada participante podrá inscribir tantas obras como desee.
1.3 Las obras serán consideradas en primera instancia para ser incluidas en las secciones de COMPETENCIA: Largometraje Internacional, largometraje latinoamericano, cortometraje mexicano, cortometraje latinoamericano y cortometraje internacional. Los filmes NO seleccionados en competencia podrían ser considerados para las secciones de EXHIBICIÓN PARALELA.
1.4 El Festival Horror en las Montañas no paga derechos de exhibición para películas en competencia.
1.5 No hay restricción del formato original de realización de la obra.
1.6 La fecha de producción para participar en la competencia de largometraje no podrá ser anterior al año 2019.
2.- INSCRIPCIÓN.
2.1 El período de inscripciones inicia a partir de la publicación de esta convocatoria.
2.2. El envío de fichas de inscripción y screeners solo se recibirá a través del sitio https://filmfreeway.com/HorrorenlasMontanas
2.3 Los autores son responsables de los derechos de sus obras.
2.4 La fecha límite de inscripción es: 5 de octubre de 2023.
3.- SELECCIÓN.
3.1 Las obras serán seleccionadas para competencia o exhibición. La decisión final será inapelable.
3.2 La organización acordará la fecha y orden de exhibición de las películas.
3.3 La proyección de las obras seleccionadas se realizará en H264 o AppleProRes.
3.4 Las obras habladas en lenguas distintas al español se presentarán en versión subtitulada en en español.
3.5 Las copias de exhibición deberán ser enviadas en tiempos y formatos acordados con la organización
3.6 La duración para considerar la selección de un largometraje será de 60 a 140 minutos con créditos incluidos.
37 La duración para considerar la selección de un cortometraje será de 1 a 30 minutos con créditos incluidos.
3.8 La organización podría hacer cambios o cancelaciones de último momento.
4.- ENVÍO DE LOS FILMES SELECCIONADOS
4.1 Las obras seleccionadas deberán ser enviadas en tiempos acordados con la organización del Festival.
4.2 En caso de que la película seleccionada se trate de un “work in progress”, DEBERÁ SER NOTIFICADO A LA ORGANIZACIÓN AL MOMENTO DE LA INSCRIPCIÓN y deberá acordar con la organización en una fecha de entrega, de lo contrario podría quedar fuera de la programación sin previo aviso. La organización se reserva el derecho de incluir el “work in progress” en su programación.
4.3 El Festival Horror en las Montañas contactará directamente a todos y cada uno de los autores de las OBRAS SELECCIONADAS para notificarles sus condiciones de participación.
5.- JURADO
5.1 El Jurado Oficial estará compuesto por reconocidos cineastas y especialistas nacionales e internacionales y será el encargado de otorgar los premios. El Festival Horror en las Montañas dará a conocer a los integrantes del Jurado, previo a la realización del Festival.
5.2 La decisión del Jurado será inapelable y podría declarar desierto alguno de los premios.
6.- ACEPTACIÓN DE LAS BASES
6.1 La Organización resolverá las dudas que pudieran plantearse, siendo su decisión final inapelable.
6.2 La Organización podrá exhibir fragmentos de los largometrajes seleccionados con fines promocionales (website, redes sociales, televisión, etc.)
6.3 La inscripción implica la aceptación de estas bases.
7.- PREMIOS
Se establecen los siguientes premios:
7.1 Montañas de la Locura a Mejor Largometraje de Horror Internacional
7.2 Montañas de lo profundo a Mejor Película de Fantasía o Ciencia Ficción
7.3 Sobreviviente del Horror a Mejor Director
7.4 Montañas de la Desesperación a Mejor Cortometraje Mexicano
7.5 El Rey de Amarillo a Mejor Largometraje Iberoamericano
7.6 Montañas de la Perdición a Mejor Cortometraje Internacional
7.7 Locura Infinita a Premio del Público

MOUNTAINS OF HORROR FF invites you to submit your Long Feature and Short Horror Films for the first edition of the festival, that will take place in November 16th – 19th, 2023.

1- GUIDELINES
1.1 No age or nationality restrictions.
1.2 Each participant can submit as many works as desired.
1.3 Each work will be considered mainly to be included in the COMPETITION sections: International Feature, International Short Film, Latam Short Film, Mexican Short Film and Latam Feature Film. Works not selected for competition could be chosen to be screened in another section.
1.4 The festival does not pay rental fee for Films in Competition.
1.5 There are no restrictions for the production format.
1.6 MOUNTAINS OF HORROR FF will accept works from 2019 to the date for the Competition Sections.
2.- SUBMISSIONS
2.1 Submissions will be received from the release date of this Call for Works
2.2 We will accept submission only by FilmFreeway via: https://filmfreeway.com/HorrorenlasMontanas
2.3 Authors are fully responsible for the rights of their works.
2.4 Mexican Short Films should send to horrorenlasmontanas@gmail.com a disclaimer excluding the festival organization from any copyright dispute.
2.5 Submission Deadline for MOUNTAINS OF HORROR FF 1st. Edition: October 5th, 2023.
3.- FILM SELECTION
3.1 Films could be selected for COMPETITION or EXHIBITION according to the Festival Organization. This decision is unappealable.
3.2 The Festival Organization will let the participants know the dates and schedule of the Films as soon as they are available.
3.3 The screening of the films will be in H264 or AppleproRes.
3.4 Films spoken in a different language than Spanish will be screened with Spanish Subtitles.
3.5 Works selected for the official competition must be sent in dates and formats previously agreed with the Festival Organization.
3.6 The considered length for a long feature will be from 60 to 120 minutes.
3.7 The considered length for a short film will be from 1 to 30 minutes, credits included.
3.8 Organization could make last minute changes or cancellations.
4.- FILMS EXHIBITION AND DELIVERIES
4.1 Films selection will be limited.
4.2 In case the Film submitted is a Work in progress, you must agree with the Organization a delivery date of the Final Work, if not, the Festival Organization can declare it out of Competition. Screenings of “work in progress” will be decided by the Festival Organization.
4.3 MOUNTAINS OF HORROR FF will directly contact each filmmaker to notify the FILM SELECTION and the terms of participation.
5.- JURY
5.1 The Official Jury will be composed by national and international Horror Filmmakers and Specialists and will be fully responsible for the selection of the Awards. MOUNTAINS OF HORROR FF will release the names of the Jury during its press conference in April, 2023.
5.2 Decisions of the Jury will be definitive and could declare empty any of the categories.
6.- GUIDELINES ACCEPTANCE
6.1 Festival Organization will solve any doubt or controversies. The final decision will be unappealable.
6.2 Festival Organization could show fragments of films from the Official Selection for promotional purposes (website, youtube, social networks, TV).
6.3 Submission imply conditions acceptance.

7.2 Mountains of the Deep Award for Best Fantasy or SciFi Long Feature
7.3 Survival of the Horror Award for Best Long Feature Film Director
7.4 Mountains of Despair Award for Best Mexican Short Film
7.5 King in Yellow Award for Best Iberoamerican Long Feature
7.6 Mountains of Doom Award for Best international Short Film
7.7 Infinity Madness Award for Best Picture selected by the Audience
